This Privacy Policy explains how Ark Player, package name com.ark.player, accesses, processes, uses and shares information.
Ark Player is primarily an offline music player. Most information used by the app is processed and stored locally on the user’s device. Certain online features, including analytics, lyrics, artist artwork and casting, require limited information to be transmitted as explained below.
1. Information processed on your device
With your permission, Ark Player scans audio files stored on your device to create and display your local music library. Local information may include:
- Audio files and storage locations
- Song titles, artists, albums and genres
- Audio-file metadata
- Album and artist artwork
- Music folders
- Playlists and playlist contents
- Favourites or liked songs
- Recently played songs, playback history and statistics
- Search history
- Equalizer settings
- Appearance and playback preferences
- Cached lyrics and artwork
- Locally generated diagnostic information
This information is used for playback, library organisation, search, playlists, favourites, history, metadata editing, artwork display, lyrics and other music-player features.
Ark Player does not upload your complete music library, audio files, playlists, favourites or listening history to a developer-operated server. Information leaves your device only through the limited online, casting and sharing features described below.
2. Device permissions
Audio and storage access
Ark Player may request READ_MEDIA_AUDIO on newer Android versions or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older supported versions. The app explains why access is needed before requesting it. Without this permission, Ark Player cannot scan your device or build the local library required for its main function.
Notifications
Ark Player may request POST_NOTIFICATIONS so playback information and controls can appear in the notification shade and on the lock screen. This permission is optional. Denying it does not prevent music playback, but playback controls may be unavailable in those places.
Bluetooth and nearby devices
Ark Player may use Bluetooth or nearby-device permissions to detect connected Bluetooth audio devices, display connected-device information, control playback on compatible devices, or find compatible Cast receivers. These permissions are not used for physical location tracking.
Local network access
Nearby Wi-Fi or local-network permissions may be used to discover and communicate with compatible Cast receivers on the same local network, only when casting requires them.
Internet and network access
Internet access may be used for Firebase Analytics, online lyrics, online artist artwork, Google Cast or Google Play services, and in-app review. Local audio playback does not require internet access.
Background playback
Foreground-service, media-playback, wake-lock and boot-related permissions may be used to maintain background playback and media controls under Android’s operating restrictions.
3. Firebase Analytics
Ark Player uses Firebase Analytics, provided by Google, in release versions. Firebase may collect or process screen views, sessions and lifecycle events, playback starts and completions, numeric playback-error codes, app version, device model, Android version, device language, general country or region, Firebase installation or app-instance identifiers, and general network or technical information.
This information is used to understand general app usage, investigate playback problems, and improve reliability and performance.
Ark Player does not intentionally send audio files, your complete library, names, email addresses, playlists, full logs, crash stack traces, or locally generated diagnostic reports to Firebase Analytics. Firebase may temporarily process an IP address to provide its services and estimate general geography. The developer does not use Firebase data to identify individual users.
Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring, and other automatic remote crash-reporting services are not enabled. Analytics data is not used for advertising or personalised advertising.
4. Analytics data retention
Analytics data is retained according to the settings configured for Ark Player’s analytics property and Google’s applicable policies. It is kept only as long as reasonably necessary to understand app usage, improve reliability, investigate technical issues, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations. Google may retain aggregated or anonymised information under its own practices.
5. Automatic online lyrics and artist artwork
When your device is online and the feature is enabled or available, Ark Player may retrieve lyrics or artist artwork. To identify a song or artist, it may transmit limited metadata such as the song title, artist, album, duration, or other identification information needed for the request.
These requests may use LRCLIB, AMLLDB, and Deezer. Ark Player does not send the audio file itself. These services may receive your IP address, request time, and technical request information under their own policies. You can continue to play local music without using these online features.
6. Casting
Ark Player supports casting to compatible devices. When you initiate casting and select a receiver, the app may transmit the selected audio, song title and artist, artwork, playback state, and control information to that receiver. This occurs only after user action, is used only for the selected Cast receiver, and does not upload your audio to a developer-operated cloud service. Google Play services or the selected receiver may process technical connection information.
7. Wear OS
Ark Player may exchange limited information with a connected phone or Wear OS device through Google Play services. This can include playback status, current-song information, playback controls, library information needed for the feature, and audio deliberately transferred by the user. The exchange occurs only between compatible connected devices for Wear OS functionality.
8. User-initiated sharing
Ark Player may allow you to share songs, playlists, exported information, or diagnostic reports through the Android share sheet. Information leaves the app only when you deliberately choose to share it and select a recipient or service. The chosen recipient or service controls how the information is processed after sharing. Ark Player does not automatically upload shared items to a developer-operated cloud service.
9. Local crash and diagnostic information
Ark Player may store diagnostic details locally, including device model, Android version, Ark Player version, playback state, technical performance information, and local error information. Crash reports, diagnostic reports, full logs, and stack traces are not automatically uploaded. They leave your device only if you deliberately export or share them.
10. Advertising
The current version of Ark Player contains no advertising, does not use Google AdMob, does not use your personal information or music library for advertising, does not build advertising profiles, and does not serve personalised ads.
The app manifest may contain the Android AD_ID permission because of build configuration. Ark Player does not access, collect, transmit, or use the Android advertising ID, and advertising-ID collection and personalisation are disabled. The presence of that permission does not mean the app displays ads or uses the identifier.
11. How information is used
Information is used only to:
- Build and display your local music library
- Play audio stored on your device
- Provide playlists, favourites, search and history
- Save app settings and preferences
- Retrieve optional lyrics and artist artwork
- Provide casting and Wear OS features
- Analyse general app usage and reliability
- Identify playback errors
- Respond to user-requested support or diagnostics
- Protect the app and comply with legal obligations
Ark Player does not sell personal or sensitive user data.
12. How information is shared
Limited information may be shared with Google or Firebase for analytics and Play services; LRCLIB or AMLLDB for lyrics; Deezer for artist artwork; a user-selected Cast receiver; a connected Wear OS device; a recipient selected through the Android share sheet; or government authorities where disclosure is legally required.
Sharing and casting features are initiated by the user. Ark Player does not sell information or share it with data brokers.
13. Data stored locally
Local playlists, favourites, preferences, search history, cache, and other app data remain on your device until you delete them in the app, obsolete cache is removed, you clear the app’s cache or storage, or you uninstall the app. Playback history may be stored for approximately two years, with older entries removed as new activity is recorded.
Clearing app storage or uninstalling Ark Player generally removes its local database, preferences, history, cached artwork, and private app files. It does not automatically delete original audio files, metadata written into audio files, exported or shared files, information already transmitted to Firebase or another service, or information retained by third parties. Eligible app data may be included in Android system backups and restored according to your device and account settings.
14. Data deletion and user controls
Ark Player does not require an Ark account and does not maintain a developer-operated account database. You can remove local information by deleting playlists, removing favourites, clearing individual or all search history, resetting settings, clearing cache or app storage in Android Settings, or uninstalling the app.
Questions or deletion requests can be sent to hello.soundcove@gmail.com. Because Firebase Analytics uses pseudonymous identifiers, user-specific deletion may not always be technically possible. Where reasonably possible, valid requests will be handled in accordance with applicable law. Information held by third parties is subject to their own policies and deletion processes.
15. Data security
Ark Player uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. Supported external internet services use encrypted connections. The app limits transmitted data to information reasonably needed for a feature, while other audio and library information remains local. Casting and device transfers occur only after you initiate or connect the relevant device.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You should protect your device, Google account, and local network.
16. International data processing
Google, Firebase, and lyrics or artwork providers may process information in countries other than your own. Those providers handle information under their own policies and legal safeguards. Ark Player limits transmitted information to what is needed for the relevant feature.
17. Children’s privacy
Ark Player is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact hello.soundcove@gmail.com. Users below the age of digital consent in their country should use the app with a parent or guardian.
18. Privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. Send requests to hello.soundcove@gmail.com. We may request enough information to verify and respond to a request, but no more than reasonably necessary.
19. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when functionality, data practices, services, or legal requirements change. The updated policy will be published on the official Ark Player site or policy page with a revised date. This policy and Ark Player’s Google Play Data Safety information will be reviewed before materially different practices are introduced.
